lavender house

Lavender House is an impressive Victorian residence dating from 1850. The house is south facing and retains many original features with a striking red pine staircase and large, high ceilinged, bright rooms. It is a charming, comfortable house, full of character.

We give you a friendly warm welcome and on arrival you are offered tea or coffee with homemade cakes in the bright ground floor sitting room, with a roaring fire in winter. It is our aim to make you feel at home and give you a relaxing and memorable stay in this beautiful part of England.

The two bedrooms have a mixture of antique and traditional furniture. One is a suite with double bedroom and bathroom. The other is a twin/double with a private bathroom.

We can suggest walks in the surrounding countryside and give advice on drawing and painting. We have lots of maps and walk books for the Lune Valley; Lake District; Yorkshire Dales and Morecambe Bay, which you are very welcome to borrow, with added advice on the best pubs and restaurants around.

Please note that Lavender House is non-smoking.

We are happy to meet you at Oxenholme main line station near Kendal.
